Hi All,
Today I was supposed to host the weekly instrumentation meeting, but I
am sadly sick at home. Is there anyone else who can take over?
Kind regards,
Emily van Hese
Hi all,
See below for this year’s NYRIA workshop. I sadly don’t have money to send people. So, you will need to find your own if you want to go.

Subject: Application Open: 2026 NYRIA Workshop
Hi Sebastiaan,
I was wondering if you would be willing to advertise the <https://nyriastronomy.github.io/workshops/2026/> 2026 NYRIA workshop to your department?
The NYRIA (Network of Young Researchers for Instrumentation in Astronomy) workshop gathers young professionals in ground-based optical and infrared astronomical instrumentation to present their research and strengthen the global network of instrument scientists. This year's workshop will be held at the University of Arizona from October 19-23, 2026.
The NYRIA 2026 workshop application is open and the application deadline is May 15th, 2026.
This workshop is a great opportunity for early career researchers (ie. Master's students, PhD students, senior postdocs, and staff) to showcase their work, network with peers, and develop collaborations with other participants from around the world. The workshop will include a series of talks from participants in addition to lectures from invited speakers and tours of local astronomical facilities. The $150 application fee includes the full program, five nights of accommodation, a workshop dinner and tea and coffee breaks.
Additional information about the program can be found on the NYRIA website <https://nyriastronomy.github.io/index.html> or you can email us at nyria2026(a)gmail.com <mailto:nyria2026@gmail.com> .
Best,
Josh

Hi all,
This might be an interesting event for some of you. I am most likely going to go there. Let me know if you are interested.
Best
Sebastiaan
Dear researchers in optics and photonics,
We would like to draw your attention to the DutchPhotonicsEvent ( <https://dutchphotonicsevent.nl/> https://dutchphotonicsevent.nl/) which will be held in the ‘Brabanthallen' venue in ’s Hertogenbosch on September 16 and 17, 2026. The DutchPhotonicsEvent, organized by PhotonicsNL, has a long-standing tradition bringing together industry and academics in the Netherlands. This coming iteration, it will be significantly renewed and expanded to include a two-day scientific conference with three parallel sessions, plenary sessions, a poster session, a job fair, and an exhibit. The ambition is to bring together the national science and industry communities across the entire fields of optics and photonics in The Netherlands. Currently confirmed plenary speakers include Andrea Alù (CUNY, USA) and Christine Silberhorn (Paderborn University, Germany).
We hope you and your colleagues will join us for this exciting meeting! We warmly welcome researchers from all levels to submit abstracts for contributed talks or posters. The deadline for abstract submission is March 15. Abstracts should be at maximum 250 words and can contain an optional figure. See the <https://dutchphotonicsevent.nl/submission/> abstract submission website <https://dutchphotonicsevent.nl/submission/> for details. We invite contributions from all areas within optics and photonics and adjacent fields, including these directions (among others):
* Integrated photonics
* Nonlinear optics
* Statistical optics
* Quantum optics
* Nanophotonics and metasurfaces
* Optical fibers
* Photonic and photovoltaic materials
* Lasers, light sources and detectors
* Ultrafast science and applications
* Optical communications
* Optical sensing and metrology
* Neuromorphic photonics
* Quantum communication, sensing and computing
* Microscopy and computational imaging
* Optics in advanced instrumentation
We rely on your help and participation to make this initiative a success. Please help us spread the word by forwarding this email to your team members and interested students and colleagues.
We hope to see you in Den Bosch in September!
